A: WritePublishRead is open for any language, and any person. You can work through the handbook and/or free online course and publish your material. It is only the Assisted Self-publishing programme that you would not qualify for.

A: It’s free, and always will be.

A: No. The WritePublishRead initiative enables authors to self-publish their books as ebooks only. The online course will, however, provide you with information on how to print your book yourself, if you so choose.

A: No. Copyright will always stay yours.

A: You will set the price of your book. You can make it free too!

A: Smashwords pays between 60% and 80% royalties, depending on a number of variables. Complete our WritePublishRead's Self-publishing for Everyone online course for more information on how these royalties work.

Assisted Self-publishing programme

A: No. Submission is free.

A: Submissions are open from 1 to 7 March every year.

A: We will announce the selected authors on International Book Day, 23 April, of every year.

A: All manuscripts need to be in Word format. This includes .doc and .docx files.

A: No. Copyright will always stay yours.

A: We currently only accept fiction. For a full list of genres, including word counts, you can read this page.
